Exam Results out for High School Seniors
Exam results for high school seniors showed top students to be from the Nineveh and Babil provinces, said Iraq’s minister of education on Wednesday.
"The success rate in the current year exceeded last year," said Minister Khudair al-Khuzaie.
High school students in Iraq have to pursue their education in either one of the scientific or literary branches from their junior year.
According to figures from the Ministry of Education in the scientific branch, nearly 98 percent of students passed the Islamic Education exam – the highest rate – while only 60.96 percent of students passed their Biology exam.
In the literary section, 98 percent of students passed the Islamic Education exam, while around 55 percent passed English, respectively the highest and lowest rates of success.
"The percentage of failure in the scientific branch reached to 13.24 percent, while in the literary branch it reached 16.78 percent," Khuzaie said.
Around 263,000 high school seniors took exams this year in the 15 provinces under the control of the central government.
