Karbala Investment Commission Relieved for Health Reasons
The Karbala provincial council decided on Tuesday to relieve the province’s health commission chief from his post due to his poor health condition and entrust his deputy to run the institution pending the appointment of a new director, a local official said.
“Dr. Jalal al-Hashimi was relieved from his post as head of the Karbala investment commission in light of a request he submitted due to his bad health conditions,” Zuhair Marhoun al-Koreiti, the chief of the Karbala investment control committee, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
This is the third time the head of the Karbala investment commission chief is relieved from his post during the past three years.
Hashimi was the first chief of the commission, set up in February 20, 2008, until his resignation. He was then succeeded by his deputy Jamal al-Hadj Yaseen, who also resigned on November 20, 2009, after which Hashimi returned to head the commission again.
The holy Shiite province of Karbala lies 110 km southwest of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
