Marathon Held for Fighting Breast Cancer

In the memory of the international day of breast cancer, media department of ministry of health held a marathon at the Sami Abdulrahman park for high school students.

Sunday (October 21st, 2012) a marathon was held by the directorate board of Hawler health for the international day of breast cancer where several activities took place.

Breast cancer is considered to be the second deadly cancer type, each year (1 million) and (200,000) women is infected by breast cancer and (500,000) die because of this type of cancer. Only one day is specified for many occasions but for breast cancer, one month is dedicated to fight cancer which is October of every year.

In a statement for Warvin speaker of director of Hawler health (Qasim Ali Aziz) said, "To raise awareness among women and protect themselves against this disease, in the memory of breast cancer we organized a marathon between the female high schools students with the commercial high schools girls"

He added "After the marathon we did some activities like distributing leaflets with instructions how to prevent yourself from breast cancer".

Qasim Aziz clarified " Besides these activities we have some other activities like TV spots, Radio spots, leaflets and flexes we have also conducted some seminars and will continue holding more seminars"

He also added " Till now there is not any precise statistics for women infected by breast cancer, but the breast cancer center has released that breast cancer is spreading in an intimidating way in Kurdistan region"
