Allawi Leads Maliki for First Time in Iraq Count

Former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi edged past Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki on Tuesday in results from Iraq's fragmented March 7 vote that may lead to months of political bargaining and create a risky power vacuum.

Ministry of Displacement & Migration

Minister Abd al-Samad Sultan

Responsible for all internally and externally displaced Iraqis, which includes developing policy to address and solve this issue.

Ministry of Environment

Minister Nermin Othman

Responsible for the oversight of planning, regulation, enforcement and policy related to all matters which affect the Iraqi environment. These activities include discovering and monitoring environmental abuses and educating/informing Iraqis about environmental standards.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Minister Hoshyar Mahmud Zebari

Responsible for consular services, including passports and visas, as well as conducting diplomatic relations and activities within Iraq and extending them internationally.

Ministry of Human Rights

Minister Wijdan Mikhail Salim

Responsible for formulating an Iraqi human rights declaration, along with encouraging the growth of independent human rights organizations within Iraq. It is also the goal of the Ministry to document the fate of those Iraqis who went missing under the rule of Saddam Hussein.

Ministry of Justice

Minister Hashim al-Shibli

Responsible for the oversight of the justice system, which includes the operation, management, construction and renovation of prisons and land registration offices, as well as the training of judges and lawyers. The Ministry is also in control of Iraqi courts, and the publication of laws and other legal documents.

Ministry of Labour & Social Affairs

Minister Mahmud Muhammad Jawad al-Radi

Responsible for citizen services such as social security and welfare as well as labour employment and training. The Ministry also oversees state-run, orphanages, nursing homes, day cares, employment centres, and facilities for the disabled.
