Baghdad, 08 May 2008 (Voices of Iraq)
The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity on Wednesday announced a wide-scale campaign to repair high-voltage and extra high-voltage power lines and to provide adequate maintenance for electricity generating units in the country.
"Improvement in electricity supplies will be felt within the coming days in Baghdad and other Iraqi provinces," said a statement released by the Iraqi cabinet's Media National Center and received by Aswat al-Iraq, Voices of Iraq, (VOI), quoting an informed ministerial source.
Many huge projects are currently underway, including power generating stations, transmission networks and transformation stations. "Some of these projects will be completed this summer, which will increase the generated power and facilitate its transmission to all provinces," the source added.
