Police forces on Thursday arrested two persons driving a motorcycle in possession of 25 anti-tank landmines in Missan, the police chief said.
“Police patrols arrested two persons in possession of 25 anti-tank landmines in central Amara”, Brig. Gen Ali Waham al-Maliki, Missan police chief, told Aswat al-Iraq-Voices of iraq(VOI).
The police official did not identify the affiliation of the detainees, but said “they were caught in possession of lanimes when they were searched by forces”.
He noted “a number of defused roadside bombs contained the same explosive charges of the landmine”.
Meanwhile, the same source said “ patrols from Ali al-Sharqi police station discovered 15 landmines in a stream near the district centre”.
He added “the landmines were lifted and delivered to the explosive defusing team”.
Amara, the capital city of Missan province, lies 390 km south Baghdad.
